Established in 1920, the Cremer foundry was a cornerstone of French cinematography for two generations. These specific units, dating from the mid-century period of 1950–1960, represent the pinnacle of the company's influence before they ceased manufacturing in 1977.

In the golden age of black and white cinema and photography, Cremer lights were the preferred choice for directors seeking a particular depth and soft-focus brilliance that modern LED alternatives simply cannot replicate.
